• Multi-hooping: Plan a composition across multiple hoop positions when the design exceeds one stitching field. Hooping accuracy and the machine's limits still determine what can be stitched.
• Wireless design transfer: Use the included WiFi Device with a compatible USB-capable embroidery machine and a suitable network, or use the machine's supported conventional transfer method.

• Old license evidence required: Have the V6/V7 hardware dongle or V8 product key and registration information available. Contact BERNINA before purchase if the old license cannot be identified.
• Project supplies: Thread, needles, stabilizer, fabric, and any optional specialty tools are purchased separately.

System Requirements & Machine Compatibility

Windows computer: BERNINA lists Windows 10/11 (64-bit), Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB free disk space, and a 1366 × 768 display as minimums. It recommends 16 GB RAM and 60 GB free space. USB access is needed for applicable installation/transfer tasks. Check the complete current requirements before buying.

Mac users: V9 is not a native macOS application. BERNINA documents Windows installation on Intel-based Macs through Boot Camp, with limited support for Parallels. Confirm your exact Mac and Windows setup with BERNINA before purchasing.

Embroidery machine: Save an editable ART working file, then export the format and file version accepted by your machine. BERNINA documents EXP and other machine formats, including PES. Check your machine's manual for transfer method, hoop size, and supported file version; the software does not enlarge the physical embroidery area. Read the machine-file export guide.

License & Getting Started

The license is for one user, with installation on up to three devices and use on one device at a time. Sign out and release the license before moving use to another computer. Internet access is required for activation and periodic validation; BERNINA requires reconnection at least every 30 days for offline use. Keep your product key and account details secure. 1. Check eligibility and back up: Confirm the exact previous edition and save your designs and custom settings before installing. Do not discard an old dongle until the update has been completed successfully.
2. Install: Follow the supplied installation instructions and BERNINA's official guide, using an administrator account where required.
3. Activate the Version Update: For V6/V7, connect the old hardware dongle only when prompted. For V8, use the existing product key or the email/account used to register V8. Follow the official instructions; seek BERNINA support if these cannot be recovered.
4. Set up the added tools: Follow the CorelDRAW account/activation prompts and configure the WiFi Device if you intend to use wireless transfer.
5. Test before the final project: Stitch a sample with the intended fabric, stabilizer, needle, and thread, then adjust the design if needed.

Original appliqué and coordinated embroidery: Develop a motif from your own drawing, plan its appliqué pieces, and carry the same design language into embroidered borders or matching lettering. Keep a master design so later size or color changes are easier to manage.

Larger decorative compositions: Use multi-hooping to plan a design for a panel, cushion, or garment section that needs more than one hoop position. Print and check the layout first, mark reliable reference points, and test the registration on spare material.
