Gather a few towel-making essentials

• A plush starting point: Choose a terry cloth hand towel with room for the design above its woven border. A red towel gives the sample its festive contrast.
• Support below, topping above: Ultra Clean and Tear Plus provides the self-adhesive backing for OESD's towel method. StitcH2O wash-away topping goes over the towel to keep the pile under control during embroidery. These do different jobs; the backing is the Plus self-adhesive version.

Make one to keep, then one to give

1. Set up the towel. Hoop one layer of Ultra Clean and Tear Plus, paper side up. Reveal the adhesive, position the towel and finger-press it in place. Cover with StitcH2O and tape the topping securely.
2. Add the shimmer. Stitch the globe and stand with KingStar, then change to Isacord for the design inside. Follow the file's sequence and test your needle and tension on a similar towel first.
3. Tidy and finish. Gently remove excess backing and topping, then use water for remaining StitcH2O. Press face down on the press cloth, following the towel and thread care instructions.

A quick hoop check: The designs measure approximately 5.03" × 4.58" and fit a compatible 5" × 7" embroidery field with the correct orientation. They do not fit a 4" × 4" field. Check your machine's actual usable area and supported file format before purchasing.
