The mat measures 6" × 12"; Studio setups use the appropriate adapter and cutting plastic instead. The tree, holly and snowflake designs all coordinate with this die, so there is no companion shape die to add.

A few handy helpers: The Perfect Scoring Tool, Grippy Grid and Perfect Embroidery Press Cloth are the tools OESD recommends for its pre-cut method. They make peeling the paper backing, hooping and finishing a little easier.

Try a softer side of Christmas. Seafoam Candy Coated batik and Pink Watercolor batik make pretty choices for frosty shapes, holly accents or a coordinating border. These are optional fabric ideas, not the exact fabrics in OESD's photograph; your own scraps work beautifully too.

A simple way to get started

1. Pick a little holiday color. Choose a tree, holly sprig or snowflake, then apply Fuse and Fix to the wrong side of your applique fabrics, following its pressing directions. Die-cut the shapes needed for that design, checking their orientation against the patterns and following your cutter's limits for fabric with fusible web.
2. Let the embroidery add the sparkle. Hoop your tea towel with suitable stabilizer and follow the design's stitch sequence. When it is time to add fabric, remove the hoop from the machine while leaving the project hooped. Peel the backing from the prepared shape, line it up with the placement stitches and finger-press it into place before continuing. The tree's little star and decorative accents are stitched details.
3. Finish with a handmade touch. Complete the remaining stitches, remove the excess stabilizer and press the embroidery face down on a press cloth. Pair your finished towel with a favorite recipe or a batch of holiday treats for a thoughtful gift.

Keep OESD's instructions and applique patterns handy as you stitch. They include both pre-cut and cut-in-place methods; the pre-cut approach is the natural fit for your AccuQuilt shapes. This tea towel is a project idea using those designs, rather than a separate towel construction pattern.

A quick hoop check: The Christmas Tree measures 6.08" × 4.58", Holly 6.59" × 5.15", and the Snowflake 5.12" × 4.71". None fits a 4" × 4" embroidery field, and Holly also exceeds a 5" × 7" field. Check your machine's usable stitching area before choosing a design.

You will need an embroidery-capable machine and the file format it supports. OESD includes ART, DST, EXP, HUS, JEF, PES and VP3 embroidery formats. Keep the designs at their original size so they match the die-cut shapes. The embroidery designs, blank and supplies are sold separately.

How to Die Cut GO! Die Holiday Medley

• Apply fusible web product to the wrong side of the fabric, following manufacturer's instructions, before cutting for fusible appliqué.
• Snowflake: Cut and fuse 4 7/8" x 5 1/2" rectangles. Cut 7 snowflakes across the width of fabric. One yard of 40" wide fabric cuts 49 snowflakes.
• Tree: Cut and fuse 5" x 5 1/2" rectangles. Cut 7 trees across the width of fabric. One yard of 40" wide fabric cuts 49 trees.
• Holly Leaf: Cut and fuse 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" rectangles. Cut 10 holly leaves across the width of fabric. One yard of 40" wide fabric cuts 140 holly leaves.
• Berry Circles: Place scraps on blade and cut.

Die Tips

• With some fabrics, a thread or two may remain where die blades meet after cutting. Snip these threads with scissors.
• Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to the edge of the shape, not the edge of the die board.
• Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
• It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.
• Care & Maintenance: Use adhesive roller or die pick to clean lint and thread from dies. Die blades never need to be sharpened.
• For Studio or Studio 2 use, fit the GO! die in the appropriate GO! die adapter and compatible Studio tray, and use Studio cutting plastic instead of a GO! cutting mat.
• GO! Bolt material limits: up to 6 layers of cotton, batiks or silk; 2 layers of cotton with fusible web; or 1 layer of fleece, flannel, denim, leather, wool, batting or felt. Use no more than 4 layers when running two 5-inch-wide dies side by side. Start with fewer layers and follow the cutter and die instructions.
