Detailed Description

Nothing says fall more than crisp, juicy apples and quilting projects. The GO! Fall Medley die makes cutting multiple fabric pieces into perfect maple leaves, oak leaves, pumpkins and acorns with separate caps a breeze. Apply fusible web to the wrong side of the fabric before cutting to have applique-ready shapes for quilts, garments and home decor projects. Time to get cozy! The die includes 4 Seasons quilt using shapes on a 6" x 12" die board.

Perfect for fall or Halloween-themed quilting projects by pairing with GO! Pumpkins, GO! Cat & Bat or GO! Halloween Medley (55323, 55365, 55192). It works with the GO! Me, GO!, GO! Bolt, GO! Big and Studio 2 (with a GO! die adapter) cutters. Cutting requires the AccuQuilt GO! 6" x 12" cutting mat, sold separately. Because there are no templates to trace or rulers to slip, it is an easy way for beginners and experienced quilters alike to get consistent, accurate pieces quickly.

Make it with OESD: An Autumn Table Runner

OESD Fall Medley maple leaf, oak leaf and acorn applique stitched on a brown table linen
A little autumn inspiration from OESD.

Bring a little of your favorite season to the table. With a few fabric scraps and OESD's Fall Medley Applique designs, your die-cut leaves, pumpkins and acorns can become a welcoming table runner for everyday autumn meals or a Thanksgiving gathering.

Choose a maple leaf, a pumpkin or an oak leaf with an acorn, then let the embroidered details bring your fabrics to life. Repeat a favorite at each end of a runner, or stitch a matching tea towel for a thoughtful hostess gift.

Explore the complete Fall Medley collection

Or choose a single: Maple Leaf · Pumpkin · Oak Leaf & Acorn

These OESD designs are purchased separately and are not included with the die. They are a different collection from AccuQuilt's basic free embroidery designs. OESD links open in a new tab.

Bring your project together
  • Ready for the cutter: Use your compatible GO! cutter, this Fall Medley die and the GO! cutting mat. The mat measures 6" × 12"; Studio setups use the appropriate adapter and cutting plastic instead. All three OESD designs coordinate with this die, so there is no companion shape die to add.
  • A little help holding everything in place: Choose Applique Fuse and Fix sheets or the Fuse and Fix roll for your applique pieces, plus Medium Weight TearAway in white or black to suit the background fabric.
  • A blank to make your own: The White Table Runner gives you a finished base to decorate at the ends or along the length. For a smaller gift, try Cream Tea Towels. Use assorted cotton scraps for your leaves, pumpkins and acorns.

OESD's thread palette: Cornsilk, Golden Brown, Candlewick, Passion Fruit, Shrimp Pink, Peru, Meringue, Date, Fox. Check your thread stash first, then follow the sequence for the design you choose; you may not need every color for a single motif.

A few handy helpers: The Perfect Scoring Tool, Grippy Grid and Perfect Embroidery Press Cloth are the tools OESD recommends for its pre-cut method. They make peeling the paper backing, hooping and finishing a little easier.

Hoffman Orange Watercolor batik cotton fabric with mottled orange tones

Build your own autumn palette. Try Orange Watercolor batik for a pumpkin, Antique Gold hand-dyed batik for golden leaves and Brown Skinny Stripe batik for acorns or a coordinating border. These are optional fabric ideas, not the exact fabrics in OESD's photograph; scraps from your stash work beautifully too.

A simple way to get started
  1. Start with your favorite fall colors. Apply Fuse and Fix to the wrong side of your applique fabrics, following its pressing directions, then die-cut the shapes for your chosen design. Check their orientation against the included patterns and follow your cutter's limits for fabric with fusible web.
  2. Let the stitches add the detail. Hoop your runner or towel with suitable stabilizer, then follow the design's stitch sequence. When it is time to add a fabric piece, remove the hoop from the machine while leaving the project hooped. Peel the backing from your prepared shape, match it to the placement stitches and finger-press it into place before continuing.
  3. Make room for a little more autumn. Finish the design, remove the excess stabilizer and press the embroidery face down on a press cloth. If you would like a matching motif at the other end of your runner, mark its position and rehoop for a separate stitch-out, keeping finished embroidery clear of the hoop.

Keep OESD's instructions and applique patterns handy as you stitch. They include both pre-cut and cut-in-place methods; the pre-cut approach is the natural fit for your AccuQuilt shapes. This runner is a decorating idea using those designs, rather than a separate table-runner construction pattern.

A quick hoop check: The Maple Leaf measures 5.18" × 5.33", the Pumpkin 4.95" × 4.70", and the Oak Leaf & Acorn 4.91" × 4.88". None fits a 4" × 4" embroidery field, and the Maple Leaf also exceeds a 5" × 7" field. Check your machine's usable stitching area before choosing a design.

You will need an embroidery-capable machine and the file format it supports. OESD includes ART, DST, EXP, HUS, JEF, PES and VP3 embroidery formats. Keep the designs at their original size so they match the die-cut shapes. The embroidery designs, blank and supplies are sold separately.

  • Acorn & Cap: Place scraps on blade and cut.

Why Quilters Love the GO! Die Fall Medley

  • Perfect for fall or Halloween-themed quilting projects by pairing with GO! Pumpkins, GO! Cat & Bat or GO! Halloween Medley (55323, 55365, 55192).
  • Make a Four Seasons quilt using shapes from GO! Spring Medley, GO! Summer Medley, GO! Fall Medley and GO! Holiday Medley (55494, 55496, 55041, 55043).
  • No templates required! The GO! Fall Medley die includes applique shapes that are typically difficult to cut by hand.
  • Great value! Get multiple applique shapes for the price of one GO! Medley die.
  • Quickly cut pre-fused appliqué shapes in one pass; use up to four fused-cotton layers on compatible GO! cutters, or up to two on GO! Bolt.
  • A great way to use up scraps.
  • Charm Pack-friendly.

AccuQuilt Benefits

  • Cut so much more fabric in less time.
  • Get accurate cuts every time: no slipping rulers or mistakes.
  • Easiest to use: simply place the die on the cutter, then the fabric and cutting mat on top.
  • Save fabric with Two-Tone Foam: get more out of your fabric by placing it only over the shape you want to cut.
  • Safe to use: no blades come anywhere near your fingers.

Die Tips

  • With some fabrics, a thread or two may remain where die blades meet after cutting. Snip these threads with scissors.
  • Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to the edge of the shape, not the edge of the die board.
  • Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
  • It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.
  • Care & Maintenance: Use adhesive roller or die pick to clean lint and thread from dies. Die blades never need to be sharpened.
  • For Studio or Studio 2 use, fit the GO! die in the appropriate GO! die adapter and compatible Studio tray, and use Studio cutting plastic instead of a GO! cutting mat.
  • GO! Bolt material limits: up to 6 layers of cotton, batiks or silk; 2 layers of cotton with fusible web; or 1 layer of fleece, flannel, denim, leather, wool, batting or felt. Use no more than 4 layers when running two 5-inch-wide dies side by side. Start with fewer layers and follow the cutter and die instructions.
