Paper Clips, Not Pins 
Try using paper clips instead of pins to hold the layers of fabric together as you sew. Pins can pierce permanent holes in these specialty fabrics.

Stitch Length
Increase your stitch length on your machine to a medium to medium-long stitch length setting when sewing leather, plastic, oilcloth and laminated fabrics. A shorter stitch length can cause the fabric to become perforated at the seamline and tear.
