Creative Grids Half Rectangle Trim Tool CGRDH6

Designed by Deb Heatherly. Creative Grids Rulers are made in the USA and sold through independent quilt shops as well as select online retailers.

The Half Rectangle Trim Tool designed by Deb Heatherly for Creative Grids makes half rectangle units in seven different sizes ranging from 1" x 2" to 4" x 8". Easy to read black and white markings along with A & B trims to make it easy to line up the half rectangles for sewing. Cutting chart is printed right on the tool, along with trim lines for perfect half rectangle units every time.

The Creative Grids non-slip grip lets you position the ruler on the fabric, then helps hold it steady when pressure is applied for cutting or marking. It comes with illustrated step-by-step instructions. Scan the QR code printed on the tool or instructions to watch a how-to video and see patterns made with it.

Creative Projects You Can Complete

Build directional geometric patchwork with consistent half-rectangle units. Pair mirror-image pieces for elongated diamond-like arrangements, or repeat one direction for movement across a border or runner.

Use the cutting chart and the correct A/B trimming references for each orientation. Keep the pairs sorted and test a joined unit before preparing the rest of the quilt. For a guided layout, companion patterns such as Which Witch? and Northwoods Runner offer projects for this tool; follow the selected pattern’s fabric and cutting requirements.
