How to Die Cut GO! Ugly Sweater - 8" Finished Die

  • For best cutting results, position fabric on the lengthwise grain (straight of grain) as it goes under the roller. Tip: The die is specially designed to cut one complete 5-color 8" finished block in one pass through the cutter.
  • Fabric Color 1 (Red): Cut a 6" x 6" square. Place over shape A. Cut 1. Cut a 5" x 6" rectangle. Fold in half and place over shape B and E. Cut 1 mirrored pair of each. Cut a 3 3/4" x 1 1/2" rectangle. Place over shape C. Cut 1.
  • Fabric Color 2 (White): Cut a 5" x 1 3/4" rectangle. Fold in half and place over shape G. Cut 2.
  • Fabric Color 3 (Gray): Cut a 5" x 6" rectangle. Fold in half and place over shape B. Cut 1 mirrored pair. Cut 4 1/4" x 2 1/2" rectangles. Fold in half and over shape D. Cut 1 mirrored pair. Cut a 5" x 1 3/4" rectangle. Fold in half and place over shape G. Cut 2.

Die Tips

  • With some fabrics, a thread or two may remain where die blades meet after cutting. Snip these threads with scissors.
  • Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to the edge of the shape, not the edge of the die board.
  • Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
  • It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.
  • Care & Maintenance: Use adhesive roller or die pick to clean lint and thread from dies. Die blades never need to be sharpened.
  • GO! Bolt material limits: up to 6 layers of cotton, batiks or silk; 2 layers of cotton with fusible web; or 1 layer of fleece, flannel, denim, leather, wool, batting or felt. Use no more than 4 layers when running two 5-inch-wide dies side by side. Start with fewer layers and follow the cutter and die instructions.
