This technique not only gives you an attractive machine finish, but it creates a wonderful accent to the whole quilt project. The GO! Flange Binding die makes it easy to cut perfect strips for flange binding, sashing, narrow borders and more! It works with the GO! Me, GO!, GO! Bolt and GO! Big cutters, and AccuQuilt recommends cutting up to 6 layers of cotton, batiks, satin, silk at a time. Cutting requires the AccuQuilt GO! 6" x 24" cutting mat, sold separately. Because there are no templates to trace or rulers to slip, it is an easy way for beginners and experienced quilters alike to get consistent, accurate pieces quickly.

How to Die Cut GO! Flange Binding Die

• Step 1: Sew 1 1/2" strips together to desired length and press seams open. Sew 1 3/4" strips together to desired length and press seams open.
• Step 2: With right sides together, layer 1 1/2" strip on top of 1 3/4" aligning to one long edge. Sew together with ¼" seam allowance. Press seams towards 1 1/2" strip.
• Step 3: Fold strips wrong sides together, align the raw edges, and press. Strip should be 13 /8" wide with 1/8" of the larger strip showing.
• Step 4: Place binding with smaller strip side down on the back of quilt and align raw edges. Sew binding on with a 1/4" seam allowance.
• Step 5: Flip binding to the front. Stitch on the seam of the binding to secure.

• GO! Flange Binding includes ¼" seam allowances for easy alignment and piecing.
• Cut perfect 1¼" and 1¾" strips, then use the angled guidelines to cut squares and diamonds.
• Die blades are 23" long and are open at both ends to allow cutting of fabric that is still folded as it comes off the bolt.

Die Tips

• With some fabrics, a thread or two may remain where die blades meet after cutting. Snip these threads with scissors.
• Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to the edge of the shape, not the edge of the die board.
• Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
• It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.
• Care & Maintenance: Use adhesive roller or die pick to clean lint and thread from dies. Die blades never need to be sharpened.
• GO! Bolt material limits: up to 6 layers of cotton, batiks or silk; 2 layers of cotton with fusible web; or 1 layer of fleece, flannel, denim, leather, wool, batting or felt. Use no more than 4 layers when running two 5-inch-wide dies side by side. Start with fewer layers and follow the cutter and die instructions.
