How to Cut 8 1/2" Rag Squares

Cutting Mat Required: AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutting Mat 5"x10" 55110

Notes: Rag Quilt dies must be cleaned periodically to remove fabric threads. It is a good idea to keep an extra cutting mat on hand for Rag Quilt dies. We recommend cutting only one layer of any type of fabric with GO! Rag Dies.

• 40" wide fabric:Cut 9" strips across the width of fabric. Fanfold into 9" widths. Place on selected blade and cut. Cut 4 rag squares across the width of fabric. One yard of 40" wide fabric cuts 16 rag squares. 
• 60" wide fabric:Cut 9" strips across the width of fabric. Fanfold into 9" widths. Place on selected blade and cut. Cut 6 rag squares across the width of fabric. One yard of 60" wide fabric cuts 24 rag squares.

Die Tips

• With some fabrics, after cutting, a thread or two will remain where die blades meet. Snip threads with scissors.
• Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to edge of shape, not edge of die board.
• Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
• It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.
