Sara Khammash’s artistic journey began in early childhood, shaped by a vibrant and creative family life in Oklahoma. As one of eight children, Sara found inspiration in the talents of her father, who spent his spare time painting, drawing, and carving wood. She fondly recalls waiting for him to come home from work, eager to sit beside him and create. One of her earliest artistic memories is helping him paint store windows for the local Pioneer Days celebration during her grade school years. Sara's creative skills extend beyond visual art, deeply rooted in the domestic arts passed down from her mother. She learned to sew and quilt using old denim from her brothers’ jeans, and over time, her talents expanded to making clothing, doll outfits, and even furniture covers. Growing up in a large household, Sara contributed to everything from mending and hemming to preserving homemade food and preparing family meals—experiences that cultivated both her love of making and her appreciation for beauty in everyday life. Today, Sara continues to channel these early influences into her artwork. Whether she's painting, sewing, or cooking, her creativity is always accompanied by the comforting aroma of something baking in the oven—a cherished reminder of where it all began.
