Amber is the modern quilt designer behind Alderwood Studio. She's been sewing for most of her life, and always loved the freedom of creating her own quilt designs. After sharing some on social media, a friend asked if she would consider writing up some patterns, and the rest is history! Her designs tend to blend organic elements with geometric motifs to create contemporary designs that fit in with a modern home's decor. Much of her inspiration comes from nature, and she loves to mix landscape concepts with modern, graphic blocks to create unique designs. After ten years as a software engineer, she is now focusing completely on quilt pattern design and education. She also runs the Modern Makes Membership and subscription box, and teaches the Pattern Writing Academy. She resides in Portland, Orgeon with her husband and two small children.
